This is a beautiful brooch from this years Goldsmiths’ Fair, an evolution of some earlier designs, it combines sculptural form and careful detail. Inlaid silver and 9ct gold shimmers on the flat surface, seemingly floating and combined with a subtle pale blue resin in dots surrounding them. They change and reflect with your movements.
The hand carved form has urchin and shell like qualities, carved and textured through the centre accentuating a depth and creating a focus from which the detail emerges from. A stainless steel pin secures it at the reverse.
The brooch is a very wearable size, and extremely lightweight making it suitable for a variety of fabrics and occasions.
