Creating miniature, unique, wearable landscapes.

About Emmeline

With her roots in art and sculpture, Emmeline Hastings combines unexpected and contrasting materials from her UK studio. Utilising her original techniques of hand carving acrylics and resins and embedding them with metallic elements, she creates striking and contemporary wearable sculpture.

Her contradictory pieces strive to capture an aliveness that replicates free-flowing and rippling textures. Familiar yet otherworldly, substantial but lightweight, naturalistic but synthetic - each piece is a contradiction of beauty.

Each piece Emmeline creates is unique, but share the values and similar qualities - ephemeral jewels that reveal natural forms, surfaces dotted bristling with glittering metallic elements that shift and change with perspective. An unmistakable aesthetic with mysterious patterns of gold and silver seemingly organic to the form.

Taking her inspiration from the movement of nature, Emmeline creates art and jewellery that emulates natural flow and movement. She uses precious metals in her studio in Bristol to create these unique jewels.

“All of my work shares an ephemeral quality while being eminently wearable. I create mysterious miniature landscapes through a unique visual language. I hope to make associations with varying natural phenomenon through this individual making process.”

Jewellery made using direct inspiration from rock formations, the movement found in nature, and beautiful, organic form.
Emmeline creates light, ethically made jewellery, made to shimmer and shine in natural light, inspired by the Earth around us.

Bringing the inspiration of the earth to life through free form sketching, this allows a flowing sense of aliveness to seep into the essence of each piece.

This process allows for a fleeting movement to be captured, and for new shapes and surfaces to take form before being immortalised in Perspex acrylic and precious metals.

Each piece of jewellery begins as a free form sketch in Emmeline's studio in Bristol. It allows the inspiration of nature to seep into every piece.
Some early sketches found in Emmeline's art studio in Bristol, destined to become unique, fine pieces of jewellery, handmade by her here in Bristol.

Everything stems from the simple, undulating quality of nature’s form; taking inspiration from the mysterious and ever-changing formations that can be found in nature is how each piece begins its unique journey.

The birth of each piece stems from an admiration of the world around us, attempting to tell the story of the unique, ethereal, and fleeting quality that nature can possess - whilst in juxtaposition also honouring the archaic and long-lived, weather worn nature of rock formations and natural surfaces. Both intertwined create something that pieces together a humbling story that is an ode to nature’s form.
